The goal of the conference is to create a sustainable organization that f

Day 5 at the United Nations Ocean Conference
The ocean is a resource. The ocean is a resource. The ocean is a resource. That is the sentence that I have heard over and over again. It seems to me that people specifically governmental actors only care about the ocean because it is simply a resource that is depleting. However, the ocean is so much more than that. It is the way of life for so many people. It is part of a greater cultural that some of us will never know but that does not diminish the meaning of that culture.

Day 4 at the United Nations Ocean Conference
I just finished my fourth day at the UN conference. Over the past four days there has been a lot of talk of the problems that currently persist yet little to no discussion on what should be done. Most of the time there is rhetoric concerning the dire situation we are all in and while this is an important to know I would hope those attending this conference would know many of these facts already. Day 3 at the United Nations Ocean Conference

And it is this change that we need to focus on. Is it a good change or a bad change? For us, for our future, our health, and maybe I can go

Day 2 at UN Ocean Conference
Today was my second day at the UN Ocean Conference. I am having very mixed feelings because I am very heartened and disheartened at the same time. I feel this way because I have found that the work of many of the NGOs and other grassroots organizations have been very inspiring and uplifting yet the work of the governments while impressive is rifled with compromises and more often than not do not propose solutions. Instead there is only more talk of what is being done in one s

Day 1 at UN Ocean Conference
Today was my first day at the UN Ocean conference. Specifically this conference works toward fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14 which looks towards the conservation of the oceans. I found that this conference is very eye opening in the sense that the ocean connects everyone in so many ways. During the opening remarks of the conference one person said it most perfectly in that the ocean knows no countries and knows no boundaries making it the responsibility o
